My studio 3 collection. There was no theme, but since it is my last collection at FIDM, I wanted the theme to be me. I made designs based off of my journey in finding my identity as an artist. I wanted the clothes to literally look like flesh, to represent the inside of my skin, now showing on the outside. I wanted it to feel like you are wearing my skin, a play on “standing in my shoes.” I added all the eyes to give it more dimension, as well as the safety pins to futher this, “pinned together flesh” aesthetic. The purple pattern is there to mimic veins as well. MY DESIGN AESTHETIC IS ALL ABOUT BRINGING MY UNIVERSE TO LIFE, AND I WANTED TO SHOW THE WORLD MY UNIVERSE IN FULL.

I upcycled the denim used in the clothing. I wanted to try to make my own textile, so I hand painted and dyed all the pieces. i STARTED BY PAINTING the base red, and then hand painted the purple pattern over it. Then, I sewed and stuffed the eyes, painted them and then used liquid latex to begin making the flesh. Then, I used coagulated, fake blood to make the actual flesh texture. Then, finally i used a gloss sealant to go over the whole garment, to seal in the blood.
